Q1: What do you think about this game?
I like the games where you have to think and are not necessary motor skills, so I love Lasertank.
Q2:You have made such a lot of hard/deadly levels. How did you manage it?
I try to make the kind of levels that I like to solve, in general I have the main ideas and a high level structure on my mind, and after that I start to manage the details with the level editor. The Devil is in the details so take some time to obtain a difficult level, but I enjoy this creation process.
Q3:Some of your levels are both hard and good-looking. Is it very hard to balance the two factors? And what do you think is necessary in a level with high quality?
Often is very difficult to do both,( at least for me)
I think that good looking levels are more attractive for players and I am satisfied when I can implement my ideas with also a nice image.
Q4:You are very good at timing-tricks. Besides the SF9⬝ method and watching Stutor.lvl⬝, would you like to give further advices to players about how to deal with timing-tricks?
In general, the most difficult is to find where to locate objects to do the trick to work. My suggestion is to try your hypothesis with the edition tool, until find the object structure that you need to construct.
Q5: Your level Ch-IV#0649 Sget smart⬝ is very tricky. How did you create it?
I don"t remember specific details of that level, but in general I have some rules that I try to follow. All the movable objects have to be necessary. A few objects can be easily moved, the rest are trapped and you need to discover how to use it. I don"t add a new movable object if its function can be done reusing an existent object.
Q6: You have solved Ch-II #1786 SAlcazar⬝ by Ihab NAIRI. It is a very very difficult level, isn"t it? Could you share something about how you solve it (or how you solve this kind of hell-like level)?
Some years ago I started to try the oldest unsolved levels, and I found Ch-II #1786 SAlcazar⬝ by Ihab & pchasta (another excellent level creator). It"s a very complex level and took me a long time to solve it , to reach the flag I put an Antitank face down on H8, but there are many details to manage before you can do that.
Q7: What are your favorite levels by yourself ,why? What are your favorite levels by others? Ihab ,Iron and Kheper(etc) are also famous deadly-level makers. How do you compare your and their levels?
Is difficult to point favorite levels, may be in Challenge IV, 599Lasertank on ice 2008,(my first level rated Deadly), 1503 Lasertank on ice 2011 (blocks have to be pushed without brake thin ice), 1624 Espejito, espejito(8) (kill antitanks using an antitank with lower shooting priority)
In Challenge V, 44 Laserantitank 8, 193 Laserantitank 11, 194 Elementary 18, are very difficult and very nice levels too.
Respect other creators there are many excellent, I like very much all the Ihab levels, despite I couldn"t solve many, he is really a master in all aspects of the game.
Q8: Do you agree that a top level-maker must be a top level-solver? Have you solved many hard/deadly levels?
In my opinion some necessary skills are common between solving and making levels so probably good level makers are also good level solvers.
In my case, I"m not very good to minimize number of moves and shots, I solved some hard and deadly levels but in many cases I"m far from the best score.
Q9:LT"ers may want to know more about you in the real life. Could you say something about your real life? Is anything of LT helpful for your life?
I"m from Buenos Aires, Argentina. I"m 51 years old.
I"m married and I have a son (when he was a child, we played LT together). I"m working as engineer in a telecommunication company.
LT is useful, to keep my brain trained and because I enjoy playing this game makes my life happier.
Q10:What do you think about the future of Lasertank?
LT is surviving because of the great effort of Donald Drouin.
Devices, OS and the way that people use it is changing so LT will survive if can be adapted to this new devices and platforms, and new players can take the compromise to keep it alive.
