Mau got the 1st place as a GHS hunter in Lasertank.lvl file. After a gap he came back and contributed more lpbs and levels.
Q1: What do you think about this game?
A1: LT is a simple game to learn but it can become extremely complex and difficult in more advanced levels. It reminds me the game of chess.
Q2: Lasertank.lvl is the level file whose GHSs are very hard to beat. How did you keep such a lot of GHSs(by now 600+)? Were you very
hard-working during those days? What is important beside working hard?
A2: The main reason that gave me the possibility to work this hard on LT was passion. I love this game and it is like when you love someone:
every sacrifice becomes spontaneous to let this passion grow.
Q3: What` your feeling when beating a score, and when your score was beaten?
A3: It is not always the same feeling, it depends on the beaten level. My feeling can range from "just beautiful" to "pure enjoyment".
The sensations I feel when someone beats my record are very complex and they would require an entire interview to treat them. However rough
are not generally pleasant, but they sometimes make me feel motivated to work harder to get better results.
Q4: What do you think of your opponents, like VVI, ccw, Iron, etc? You and they had an shocking competition, didn` you?
A4: Yes, with someone of them it was actually like this, especially with ccw (in my opinion he is the best LT player, probably better than
me). Generally speaking, the idea that I made about my opponents is connected to chess. As in that game, in LT you get to know people
without seeing them but just playing with (or against) them.
Q5: You keep GHSs from kids to deadly. Which of the levels of difficulty do you prefer, why?
A5: I do not think the difficulty can be directly related to how nice the level is. Imagination, creativity and innovation are much more
important! Sometimes the genius too! LT is basically a game and so I do prefer the levels that amuse me.
Q6: Which levels are your favorite in lasertank.lvl file?
A6: I have no doubt! Almost all levels of Kheper.
Q7: In your opinion, What are necessary in a level with high quality?
A7: One or more of the ones I have mentioned before: imagination, creativity, innovation.
Q8: After years, you had come back again and send another GHSs. Is there any difference between these two periods?
A8: there are so many differences! Once I used to "eat" any kind of level, both for lunch and dinner. Now I choose and play only the ones I
like the most. I think I gained enough experience to recognize (although sometimes I'm wrong) a good level just by looking at it.
Q9: And then you created a big group of levels. Could you recommend some that are very interesting? And could you refer some impressive
levels making by others?
A9: I would not recommend any of my level in particular. I just tried to create levels with different degrees of difficulty hoping them to
be pleasant and that some LT players would have fun to solve them. LT has given so much to me. I tried to give my small contribution to LT
community.
Considering instead the levels made by other players I would recommend Pono's. Many of his levels have all three the characteristics I
mentioned above (imagination, creativity, innovation) and some of them have also pure genius! That's why I dedicated to him two series of my
inspired levels. And I have to say that his levels are much more beautiful than mine!
Q10: Which kinds of objects do you think are taking the most important parts in the game?
A10: I'm sorry, no one in particular.
Q11: LT`rs may want to know more about you in the real life. Could you say something about your real life? Is anything of LT helpful for
your life?
A11: I'm sorry, if I had to answer the question to you there would be no problem, but since I do not know who will read my answer I prefer
not to answer. I am a private person.
Q12: What do you think about the future of Lasertank? What should be changed to attract more people?
A12: LT has always been a niche game and I think it will remain like this. It requires commitment and I don't think many people are willing
to use their brain just to have fun.
For what concerns the changes I have some indications:
a- a larger field than 16x16, maybe a 24x24;
b- the chance to play in full screen;
c- levels and records windows (L & G keys) larger and more easy to read.
I know that changes I am talking about are related to the architecture of the game and would require the entire program rewriting. But I
have always desired those modifications and I think many players would appreciate them, since they would improve the ergonomics and so the
playability.
