from the hint:
"26-trit counter.
Relocated 3^1 tunnel counters - larger 3^26 multiplier at end.
9 / 2 * (2 * 5 * 8 + 8) * 3^26 + 3
= 1,006,578,868,018,287 moves, 1 shot.
> 1 quadrillion (10^15).whew.
Kept simple. Only one multiplier at end."
suyono will verify the calculation i'm sure - gotta keep him busy! :-) very sorry, but i can never send in a "lpb" file! hee hee
suyono's detailed analysis said that the longest playback could be at
most 65,500 moves (msg# 4664) which is the required solution in "Theoretical
Max" special.lvl #304. therefore, this would be the longest provable playback
solution. this 65,500 moves could be adapted to a level for people to try
to solve (like the trinary ones in challenge II), but i don't think there'd
be any point to it as it would take at least 6 hours of moving "up" after
figuring out how to set it up.
