cannot continue on the path that it is on because I am running out of
ideas for levels to make. I am not a terribly creative person, and
LaserTank demands creativity in order to make the good levels. While
I thank Donald for making my levels that can't be added to the main
levels sets available to all, I just don't see how I can continue to
make levels without some drastic changes in the way that I make them.
Earlier, in December, I managed to make my own level based off of
Clueless Warrior's Chant of Roots, which came out to be over 96,000
moves long. This thrilled me completely. It was and probably will be
my only level in the NO_LPB level set because making levels of that
caliber are very, very difficult.
Furthermore, my level creating abilities are hampered by the fact that
I am not a very good level solver. In every level set but Special-I,
Sokoban-I, Sokoban-II and certain levels of Lasertank level sets, I
can only solve the Kids levels, and maybe some of the Easy levels,
especially in the Challenge level sets. Because I can't solve the
harder levels in the Challenge level sets, this makes it impossible
for me to make hard levels myself because I don't have the necessary
knowledge to do so.
I believe that we should make public only a few of the lpb's that
actually showcase certain tricks being used. For example, the trick
with the flag right next to an antitank that can't be moved, and is
found in several of the harder levels. If we were to do this, this
would help more people learn how to solve harder levels, however,
there might be an even better way.
I think that we should make a completely new level set called Teacher
or something like that that starts off showing the basics, but then
eventually evolves and starts to get into more complex level sets and
shows us how to solve them step by step (and what the person who is
solving the level did wrong), kind of like a teacher does with its'
class. They start out with the basic idea, and then expand upon that
until the complete idea is known. We should do something like that
here.
