- Put your old
  Beginner.lpb files in a directory (Ex: C:\Temp-LPB)

- Put LT-40_Import.exe
  in another directory (Ex: C:\Result)
- Put the Beginner.lvl
file in the same directory (C:\Result)
- Run the
  LT-40_Import.exe program.
- Select Beginner when
askingWhen the program ask for a name, select
Beginner
- Then in
Menu/Options, Select "Copy Playback Files" (leave the name as it is =
  Beginner_0000)
- Then in Menu/Game,
Click on "Import Playbacks". Browse for C:\Temp-LPB then
  OK
- In the C:\Result
directory, you will end up with the new Beginner_xxxx.LPB files and the new
  Beginner.hs file.
- It is possible that
some LPB won't be exported, this is due to a kind of a bug in
  LT-40_Import.exe.
- You can export manually these LPB with the F8 function (Resume Recording) in the LaserTank game.

Not only did you screw up the .LPB's, but not filling the holes
left by deleted levels also screwed up the High Scores (.hs) files
for Beginner.lvl and Special.lvl. I.e., above the first deleted
level, the High Scores don't correspond to the Levels. I fixed up my
Special.hs file, but since I deleted/lost my pre-7/18/02 Beginner.lvl
file, I couldn't fix my Beginner.hs file. If you still have the
pre-7/18/02 Beginner.lvl file, would you please email it to me. (I
will outline the 'fix up' proceedure in a separate message.)
Why do you think "it's too much work" to preserve the original
positions of the levels? Just use the LTUS LTCopyLv.exe program to
'overwrite selected levels with selected levels'.
PLEASE: Either, don't "fill in the holes" again. Or, at least,
include a warning if you do.
Regards,
Harvey
