square and circle tools more since freehand drwaing can often be
messy and the shape tools allow you to fill them with awesome
textures!
(BTW, check out the 'texture fill' feature of the program, double
click on the blue rectangle beside what looks like a bucket on the
bottom right side of your screen. On the pop-up, choose the button on
the far right that has that bluish stuff and click 'edit')
anyway I use the textures in my graphics to make the ground, and MANY
other objects..
As for your question:
It is really hard to make the effect you want with the paint-brush on
such a small scale, that goes with every drwaing program. You may
want to make your brush a bigger size or something. Or you could try
using the square shape at one pixel, but keep the anti-alias feature
on. (If you haven't done that already)
