Here what i will do
if it was my computer.
First : Completely
delete the association with [LVL] and/or [file LVL]
Second : Delete all
the Lasertank.ini that you could find everywhere on
your computer
Third : Reboot your
computer
Fourth : Launch
Lasertank ( That will create a new .ini
file)
Fifth: Doubleclick
on a .LVL file, a pop-up window will appear (use this
pop up to let window do the association for you; browse to find your lasertank
directory)
That should
repair your association.

P.S.
Before you reboot your computer (Third step), you also could open your
registry (but it is a dangerous place
to play if you don't know what you do); and make a search for lvl_auto_file, and delete it.

I checked my association, and it said that LVL-files are opened in
C:\BETA\lasertank32.exe "%1" . But that's completely wrong, they are
actually in the folder C:\Laser Tank\BETA 22\LaserTank.exe (I know
that BETA 22 is wrong, yes!).
So I tried to Replace the C:\BETA\lasertank32.exe "%1" with C:\Laser
Tank\BETA 22\LaserTank.exe "%1", but it says it can't find the
program and / or path. So I try to remove the "%1", but it still
doesn't work.
None of the other tips you had worked either. I think I'm soon just
giving up.
