Ice, tunnels and the exploitation of glitches.
But seriously, I decided yesterday to only make levels
that do not employ the use of glitches or "tricks" as
you call them, in order to be solved. I think this is
bad for the game. It's not straight forward and will
only lead to frustration to newer players.
I think it's wrong to set up an environment whereby a
potential new player can be stuck on a level for
weeks, only to find out that there is a 'gimmick' that
allows you to shoot a block under a tank. What if he
never finds out that there is a 'gimmick' and finally
either skips levels, or abandons lasertank altogether,
feeling a little dumber than he used to?
Please keep in mind that I have been playing for
several years, but never really knew there was a group
or message board. I had downloaded the game on my pc a
few years ago, and played it off and on while at work,
didn't really know there was a subculture (he he).
I really like the older version of lasertank just
fine, and at this point, refuse to exploit glitches to
solve puzzles. The sad thing is though, that now I
have to grudgingly learn the glitches just so I can
account for them and avoid an 'easy' shortcut when
making new levels.
Finally, I think a few of you might benefit from a
little introspection just to ensure that you're not
predisposed to downgrading levels when they do not use
tunnels/ice and glitches.
PS: just food for thought, I solved level #290
(Sokoban2?) in about 10 minutes. (five minutes of
thinking, followed by five minutes of block
manipulating). And I solve deadly and hard levels on a
fairly regular basis. Many of them, I would deem
nothing more than medium. If I want to sit down and
make a really difficult puzzle, I can, and will do
that, and no one will mistake it for "kids".
Thanks!
