aah - as i suspected! actually, mike has probably maximized
correctly, but i haven't had a chance to study it. sometimes the
relationship between the numbers is a sneaky one. this IS lasertank
after all.
> Is it a coincidence that the factors in Mike's level look rathergood?
mike:
size does matter! of course, increasing the number of factors by
reducing the squares per counter is even more important than
equalizing factors. so far, the cyclic mechanism that produces the
greatest information density seems to be the tunnels which i inserted
as base-3 counters (6 squares) in the gaps in the base-3 rotary
mirror counters (8 squares - it's actually 4 squares, but logistics
requires additional mirrors to redirect the input and output
signals). so, the move count would be increased quite a bit by
filling the field with the base-3 tunnel counters if new colours were
available. for my levels, counterclockwise rotary mirrors would also
be handy. i still need to study your twin counter.
> What do you guys think adding what objects would increase themaximal level length the most?
