i just read the latest daily digest which centered around your entry
into the group. i like reading these types of heart-felt messages
when people "shoot from the hip" and "wear their hearts on their
sleeves". no offense, but only because i can relate, i was really
amused by the sincerity of your message after you went through the
tutorial file and became depressed (regarding the direction LT has
taken).
i played for years too, and when i joined the group i was a little
overwhelmed by all the new levels and new information of
the "subculture". one thing about the glitches/tricks/rules/bugs - i
think there are probably a lot of the level solvers and creaters who
would have become bored and left the game by now, which would have
been a shame. my advice is to give it some time and you will probably
adjust to all the changes.
regarding discovering the "gimmicks" (i call them "rules") -
"...Spock the "logical" Vulcan explain(ed) that when we explore all
the possible conclusions and find no solution we must therefore
consider the impossible." if it's good enough for Spock, it's good
enough for me. i find it to be an enjoyable part of the game. some
gimmicks were actually eliminated because they were inconsistent with
using playbacks.
LT was my tutorial too to most of the tricks, but i still had lots to
learn from tutorial.lvl.
starting around msg# 4476 there was a good discussion about tricks
started by someone who then soon rather abruptly quit the group,
seemingly in quite a huff (i couldn't find that message - it sounded
negative towards the members i think - maybe it was removed?). that
discussion, i think, led to the development of the tutorial levels. i
tend to prefer tangible vs theoretical, and around that time, i
started to write a "user manual" in an analogous fictional world in
which most events in LT could be explained with real and fictional
science including quantum mechanics and star trek lingo. it has
gotten a bit out of hand, but i still intend to get off my butt
sometime and finish it.
