Gerry may not carefully read my earlier letters, which have hit back most of Suyono�"s opinions.
1. LaserTank solutions are not unique.
Everyone that learned Junior-high-School maths knows the point above. They know a level may have several solutions, no matter if an lpb is given. Of course most also know there may likely be a better solution than the published lpb. Ok just suppose they don�"t know. But we can easily let them know through a one-or-two sentence instruction on the net. We needn�"t worry about this.
However, they just cannot think out any solution. Their skills limited them. And we haven�"t created a good flat for them to raise skills. We teachers are incompetent.
2. There's no proof that the solution is
I insist that the soul of the game, in this special time , extremly wants rookies to improve GHS of a given lpb, and more people sign their names on the GHS hunters�" list. I have said the detailed reasons in my earlier letters.
(A branch: There may be an opinion that a GHS solution must be wholly thought out all by the hunter himself. But I don�"t think so. Almost everyone has a look at the hint before solving a level. GHS itself, which is made by another hunter, is also a good hint. So I think a GHS is acceptable as long as the rule is fair to everyone. But we also rely on GHS hunters' kind permission. See details in my earlier letter. )
3. If lpbs of certain levels are
First, Will we have new members in the future, if we keep the situation the same? How many new members have we heard from in Yahoo Group these months? Second, SOME levels, NOT ALL the levels, will become �Sdead⬝ levels if the lpb is published. I take �Sdown the drain⬝ and �SBeing an inchworm⬝ for examples. The solutions have been put up years ago but I don�"t think they have died. They are always well received. Third, I suppose one is really lose interest of some levels. But it is better than he loses interest of the lasertank game. 99% levels, in my suggestion in the earlier letters, is not open.
4. Many levels are so difficult not
�Slearns nothing⬝ is not right. He can learn how to improve his score, he may also learn another solution. (If he didn�"t work out this level, He could certainly learn a solution. And we have 99% other levels for him to try all by himself.) What is more important, he has more topics talk with others openly. That is like, after a good math student completes a paper of homework, he can communicate with others about their opinions or check the standard answer.
Tutor.lvl is very important in teaching good players, while it also has disadvantages which have been stated in my earlier letter. It is much better for good players than for most players. It needs necessary supplement.
5. There are more than 13,000 levels
The portion is more important than the quality. Let us imagine: If there are 10000 good levels in 13,000,000,000 levels, who has the patience to choose some good ones? plus how many people are try choosing levels to play nowadays? And I think the point above is far away from the theme.
I�"m not sure what I said is right but I am sure the right way in this special time to save our group is : think out a way, consider of its details, put it into practice, let practice prove if it is effective. Only changing can bring survival.
