version. There is another internal graphics.
I knew there was LaserTank.exe in French but didn't know where to find
it. I asked Ihab. On January 12, 2004, he told me to visit the LaserTank
site in French. At the same time, he also mention about the internal
graphics in LT 4.0.4 French, which I recognized as Eye_Saver+Grid.ltg by
Donald Druin.
Probably, Eye_Saver+Grid.ltg is the most practical LTG available in the
collection. (There are 135 LTG's in the collection.) It uses soft colors
and avoids much contrast.
Two objects that look much different with the English version are
'tunnel' and 'rotary mirror'. The tunnel's colored area has significant
portion, so the tunnel can be identified easily. The rotary mirror has
strong advantage, which is clearly mentioned in the hint of the level
"LTG - Rotary Mirrors 2" (Challenge-III #126):
"See how the path for the laser beam is
not easily seen with some LTG files.
The front surface of a good mirror must
be flat without cone.
Look at the path from D-10 to K7 and
compare the difference when using
Internal Graphics and EyeSaver+Grid."
We never know the better LTG's unless we try some of them. I like to
repeat the following paragraph.
Players feel strange when they try a new LTG, so that's not the good
time to make the decision. If a player likes a new LTG, he/she should
try it for about two weeks. After that period of time, he/she may go
back to the old LTG and make the fair comparison. If the new LTG is
really good, he/she will see how strange the old one.
