Could you please ban members who post large attachments? This idiot wasted
my and our bandwidth by attaching a 372K file instead of uploading it to the
yahoo site and posting a link.
Thanks ,
Vic
Hi Vic,
I will not ban someone because he have posted an attachments.
Until now, we have always worked like that and so far, this has never
disturbed anybody.
With a 56 K modem, a 372 K files should be downloaded in no more than about
1 minutes.
But if it is really a problem for you, you have the possibility to adjust
your "Message Delivery setting" to "No Email",
and after this, you will have to read the messages on The Web.
(If you prefer, i could make the modiffication for you)
Thus, for you, the attachments will stay on the Web unless you decide to
download them.
Donald.
P.S. Try to stay polite in the discussions.
Dear Donald ,
Please note that the member called himself "Joe the Idiot" and I was just
agreeing with him !!
Netiquette demands that only files of general interest should be attached to
emails sent to mailing lists , and then only when the file is small ( less
than 100K). Further , all attachments except really small ones should be
zipped first. I attach a zipped copy of the .ltg file - the zipped size is
not 372K , but only 7K , a saving of 367K which then downloads in less than
1 second instead of one minute. A small investment in time by one person can
save many others a lot of time and resources.
