sorry for being so slow on the uptake - i caught up with the
events/progress and it all sounds like no fun at all - the LT game is
only a portion of your worries - i'm only one time zone away to the
east, but that's no help as i don't have an airplane! - i don't know
the details of your problem, so i'm no help at all - unless you want
to hash out a few details on the forum, i wish you luck - whatever
details you want to provide, there's myself and, thankfully, others
worldwide who are willing to help - pc's are funny things; mostly
it's one component that fails and the rest are healthy, but that's
all it takes for the death of a system - luckily pc's can be restored
to life once faulty components are ID'd and swapped - i myself run an
old network system with backup drives and i am networked to a backup
networked dual system - yes, it's in my home, long story, what the
hell if you got the room, fill it. i can't help with money - most of
my gear is begged, borrowed or stolen (just a saying).
the loss of data is distressing. i actually wondered about this a
while ago. i had guessed that it was taken care of, but now have to
share the blame amongst everyone if it's lost. you are not solely
responsible for maintaining this data and backing up, and certainly
not for it's loss. as a game and forum, we shall recover. LT has been
around for a long time, and i would like the group to start thinking
about how to let it exist forever. i used to use something called "X-
drive" years ago, but it went belly-up, and i have never had hi-speed
internet, but i am sure that the group could maintain a bit of free
protected webspace to preserve our valuable data. my own webspace is
also quite borrowed, so i have none to offer, but it would be
desirable to have an establish web based company host it to ensure
backing up and a forever type of existence. it's too bad that yahoo
(or maybe they do) couldn't provide what we need. god forbid that
anything happen to you, but as a worlwide forum and game, we need to
plan for that too. "horst" could get hit by a bus tomorrow and not
ruin the game, but we can't afford to lose donald!!!
