ONCE, I ASKED IHAB NAIRI HIS OPINION
ABOUT DEADLY LEVELS. I LIKE HIS ANSWER
VERY MUCH. I WOULD FEEL SELFISH IF I
DIDN'T SHARE IT TO OTHER LASERTANKERS.
WITH HIS PERMISSION, I COPIED HIS
OPINION AS FOLLOW.
* * * * * Ihab begins 1 * * * * *
I prefer some levels according to four
criteria. A deadly level is successful
or very pretty if:
1. it is almost impossible to solve.
2. it is very very difficult by design
and free of any shortcut (not to
mention a bad shortcut.) The
displacements are nearly all imposed
by the author. Ch-I 1333 ("S - C'Ape"
by 'Kheper') is a very good example.
3. it doesn't present too many varieties
of element. It uses rather simple
elements (movable blocks, movable
mirrors, tank movers, anti-tanks) to
make it very very difficult to solve.
Exp. LT 0040 ('Down the Drain' by
'anonymous'), 0179 ('Being an inchworm..."
by 'Kheper'). See also the levels Ch-II
1795-1796 (Two hard levels by 'W.
Woltemade': 'Happy-go-lucky' and
'Easy-peasy').
4. it represents a simple concept, but
the solution is very very difficult.
LT 0040 ('Down the Drain' by 'anonymous')
is indeed outstanding (pure Sokoban);
the flag is in front of our eyes; we
know what we have to make, but how?
Here is the list of the very successful
deadly levels:
* anonymous: LT 0040 ('Down the Drain').
* Kheper: LT 0145 ('cHAHarm'), 0179
('Being an inchworm...'), 0726
('Kids>Up...Others>Down'), 1129
('Eye of Azathoth'), 1978 ('The
Terrorists'), 2011 ('Neighborhood
Patrol'); Ch-I 1333 ("S - C'Ape");
Ch-II 0826 ("L'Attrape").
* Donald Drouin: Ch-I 0009 ("The Ducky's
Journey"); Ch-III 0120 ('Unreal Morning').
* GerrW: Ch-I 0065 ('Thru Thick & Thin'),
0242 ("Dante's Inferno"); Ch-II 0345
('Klugheit Prüfung').
* Sven Egevad: Ch-II 0454 ('Island race').
* Yono in Jkt.: Ch-II 1906 ('Dangerous
thin ice'), 1920 ("Robinson Crusoe's
Puzzle"); Ch-III 0066 ('Cervix et
cervix'), 0134 ('From cage to glory');
Sok-I 1250 ('From 2003 to 2004').
* Iron & Bartok: Ch-II 1715 ('Mountainous
ExtremE'), 1790 ('Proficiency test'),
1881-1884 ('Contact time', 'Mountainous
ExtremE_3', 'Global frontier post',
'Survival test') 1994 ('Alice in Wu-Land');
Ch-III 0004 ('Haly-Galy yo-ho-ho.'),
0338-0339 ('CTPAX BO MHE', 'Joking apart'),
0343 ('KPAHTbI').
From LT level file, I gave some of about
twenty levels I played.
The difficult of the difficult:
* LT 0040 ('Down the Drain' by 'anonymous'),
0179 ('Being an inchworm...' by 'Kheper'),
and more.
* Ch-I 0065 ('Thru Thick & Thin' by 'GerrW').
* Ch-II 0345 ('Klugheit Prüfung' by 'GerrW'),
0826 ("L'Attrape" by 'Kheper'), 1715
('Mountainous ExtremE' by 'Iron & Bartok'),
1881 ('Contact time' by 'Iron & Bartok'),
1883 ('Global frontier post' by 'Iron &
Bartok').

LATER, I ASKED ANOTHER QUESTION, "WHAT
ARE YOUR FAVORITE DEADLY LEVELS THAT YOU
AUTHORED?" IT'S HIS ANSWER.
* * * * * Ihab begins 2 * * * * *
I like the levels:
* Ch-II 1597 ('le Village De Voisins'),
1786 ('Alcazar'), 1787 ('Alhambra'),
1829 ('Le cyclope Deux'), 1876 ('Mon
Premier Maître').
* Ch-III 0002 ('Test By Iron & Bartok'),
0003 ("Yono in Jkt's Puzzle");
because they don't use any trick or new
concept, and with the exception of the
Ch-III 0002, don't present any flags lures.
I also like the following levels because
they are too difficult and complicated:
* Ch-II 1047 ('Ctrl + Alt + Del'), 1144
('IllIsIbIlIté'), 1786 ('Alcazar').
* Ch-III 0002 ('Test By Iron & Bartok').
It is why my favorite is Ch-II 1786 (a
few less is Ch-II 1829) while supposing
that these levels don't present any other
solutions (even deadly.)
I like Ch-II 1875 ('Tableau') for a
reason a few bizarre things, I find it
pretty as picture and it is why I have
called it "Tableau" in French that is
"Painting"; I should call it "The Woman"!
