>Here's a Lasertank proverb
:
>A Level is always
simpler, after we know the solution, never before !
The proverb that I wrote in the
previous message, made me think about this :
Did you noticed that I un-rate
all the new levels that i add ?
I do this because I know
that the creator of a level is not the best person to evaluate his own level,
because he too much know his level and by knowing the solution(s), he can't rate
it objectively.
The best person to evaluate
correctly a level is the one who see it for the first time and solve
it.
So I consider that those who
send me their LPB files to get a place on the High Score Lists are the best
persons to evaluate levels.
Thus I want to thank
personally those who take the time to send me their evaluations of the levels
they solved, by using the LaserTank Level's Evaluator Program.
Most of the GHS Hunters do it
and I want to tell that by doing so, they have the priority upon those who only
send their LPB files.
Another thing that the proverb
made me think :
When someone has few experience
with Lasertank, even an "Easy" level may appear to be a "Hard"
level.
When someone has a lot of
experience with Lasertank then a "Hard" level may seem an "Easy" level to
him.
Thus I want you to be aware of
this when you evaluate the levels you solve :
Try to think as
an average player, that way the levels will be more accurately evaluated for a
majority of players.
Then finally, here's a quick
reminder on how to rate the levels.
- A Kids level, is a level that you can solve
at the first try.
(If it's really too easy, it's belong
to the Beginner level file)
- An Easy level, is a level that you have to
think a little bit before being able to solve it.
- A Medium level, is a level that you have to
try many times before being able to solve it.
- A hard level, is a level that you solve only
after many, many, many tries.
(You play
some easier levels and come back later to
it)
- A deadly level, is a level that look impossible to
solve, and you can try it for many, many
days
before being able to solve it.
(maybe never being able to)
Remember that
even if a level has a very long solution this is not necessarily a difficult
level,
and also, a short solution doesn't mean it's an easy
level.
The rating should
correspond more to the work you do with your brain than with your keyboard and
your mouse.
Thank you for your attention
