How to
change sound effects in LaserTank with Restorator.

First, you need to download the software program
needed to edit the LaserTank.exe program, and change internal files deep inside
the program (in this case sound files). Doing this requires the use of
Restorator, the (so far) most ultimate (and easiest) program for your Laser
Tank programming needs! The program is shareware however, and has a 30-day use
limit. Go to http://www.bome.com/Restorator/download.html and
download then install the program.
Once the program is installed and ready to use, you
need to know how to edit the sound... sure, you can find out how to do it
yourself (like i did), or you can view the following quick guide (made by me) on how to do it! Good luck!
In the file pane window, locate
the "LaserTank.exe" file and drag it from the file pane window, to
the resource tree window.
Expand the branches
in the LaserTank.exe file in the resource tree window until you find the
sub-folder named "RCData".
This folder
contains every single sound effect used in Laser Tank. Lets say that you wanted
to change how it sounded when the tank fired a laser. To
do this, you would find an existing .WAV file (ONLY .wav
files... others will not work (that i know of)) on your
computer and simply drag/drop it over the file named "FIRE" under
the "RCData" subfolder! simple as that! now, identifying
the sounds shouldn't be too difficult, considering that
you can preview the sounds by clicking on files once.
Continue
dragging and dropping wave files until you have changed all the sound effects
you wanted to be changed.
***NOTE*** KEEP IN MIND, TAMPERING WITH
FILES IN THE LaserTank.EXE PROGRAM THAT YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND
CAN DAMAGE THE PROGRAM, CAUSING IT TO MALFUNCTION OR NOT
WORK AT ALL!!! ONLY DO WHAT YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO!!!
Once completed,
you then need to save your changes to LaserTank.exe! to save, click the "save"
option on the tool bar or go to "file" and "save as...".
Restorator automatically adds a number to the end of the filename (such as
a 1, or 2) making he file look like this when you save
it: LaserTank1.exe <--notice the added number. If you
save over the original LaserTank.exe file, it will make a
backup of the program, so don't worry about screwing
things up too bad!
Now your ready to try out
your new sounds! just close Restorator (or keep it running if you must) and open
the laser tank program that you edited the sounds on, and
when you play, you SHOULD hear the new sounds when you
move, shoot, etc. Ifou do not hear the new sounds, or if
something else is not right, then you probably did
something wrong. See the "contacts" section of this
document for my Email address to send me any questions or comments

Is there something confusing about changing sounds or using
restorator? is there a problem with the program after it has been
edited? even if you want to say thank you, please send all of your questions and
comments to me, Robert Dailey (MrDoomMaster),
